The New Distillery

The story of Glens of Antrim is one d...

The story of Glens of Antrim is one deeply rooted in the land, where generations of the McKillop family have grown potatoes in the shadow of the rugged Glens, guided by hard work, resilience, and a deep love for their home. What began as a humble farming enterprise has grown into a trusted name across Northern Ireland, built on heritage and heart.

In 2015, with the same commitment to quality and innovation, the family launched Glens of Antrim Crisps, hand-cooked snacks made from their own potatoes, infused with bold flavours inspired by the wild beauty of their surroundings. Since then, the crisps have found their way into shops and delis across the UK, offering a true taste of the Glens in every bite.

Now, the McKillops are preparing for their boldest venture yet: the creation of the Glens of Antrim Distillery in Cushendall. This new chapter will see the family craft premium Irish whiskey using locally sourced ingredients and traditional methods. Set against the dramatic backdrop of Lurigethan mountain and the Atlantic coast, the distillery will become a destination for locals and visitors alike.

The site will feature not just a working distillery, but also a warm, welcoming café and restaurant serving local, seasonal produce open to all, whether they take a tour or not. With a tasting room, immersive visitor experience, gift shop, and a strong focus on sustainability, the Glens of Antrim Distillery will be more than a place to make whiskey. It will be a place to share stories, celebrate heritage, and raise a glass to the spirit of the Glens.

A Whiskey with a home in Cushendall

The distillery will produce premium Irish whiskey, made with pure Glens water and local barley bringing together time-honoured techniques and a passion for innovation.

A Visitor Experience Steeped in Storytelling

Guests will be welcomed into a modern yet rustic distillery space that celebrates the myths, music, and magic of the Glens. From guided tours to immersive tastings, every experience will tell the story of this unique place and the family behind it.

A Destination in the Heart of the Glens

With views of Lurigethan mountain and the rugged coastline, the site will be a celebration of natural beauty. The distillery will include a tasting room, a gift shop featuring locally made goods, and plans for a cozy on-site bar and eatery showcasing the best of Northern Irish produce.

A Café and Restaurant Open to All

Whether visitors are joining a whiskey tour or simply passing through, everyone is welcome. The on-site café and restaurant will celebrate local, seasonal ingredients and warm hospitality, all infused with the spirit of the Glens.

Sustainable from the Ground Up

True to their agricultural roots, sustainability will be at the heart of every decision. From renewable energy use to local sourcing and waste reduction, the distillery will honour the land it stands on.

A Spirit that Carries Legacy Forward

The first casks will be laid down in 2026, with plans to launch the first bottling in the early 2030s. It will be a spirit that reflects not just a process, but a place bold, wild, and full of character.
